New Culture Cascadia Summer Camp 2016

Presenters and Offerings

With Monique Darling as our keynote presenter, we will experiment with something radically new: we will use techniques of sociocracy to explore what we all want to experience, as a consensus based collective. We have assembled a powerful cadre of deeply experienced presenters to create and deliver just that!

You Are the Gift & Cuddle Party

with Monique Darling

Monique Darling

You are the Gift
If you could have anything, do anything, what would you choose? What do you really want? What is keeping you from having it? Your life is alive with an abundance of possibilities, opportunities, potential – all you have to do is be willing to ask.

You see, you ARE the gift!!

In this workshop you will learn, play, and practice:

  • To ask for what you want, skillfully and without attachment to the response.
  • To honor, respect, and be grateful for the answer “no”, and still be hopeful for the answer “yes”.
  • To be honest and vulnerable about your wants and desires without shame, without deflection, without armor.
  • To hold space for someone who has not yet learned these skills.
  • To own your fears instead of them owning you.
  • To not be afraid to be the one you love the most.

Cuddle Party
Come cuddle with us! Cuddle Party is a non-sexual space that offers participants an opportunity to explore intimacy with like-minded others. In a relaxed environment, that upholds personal boundaries at all times, one is encouraged to engage in communication and nurturing consensual touch.

The Evolution of Collaboration

with Melanie Rios

Melanie Rios

Melanie will continue to guide our exploration of how to support our intentional communities, work places and activist organizations in working together effectively and with joy. At Cascadia Camp this summer we will gather in affinity teams for the purpose of collaboratively contributing something to our new culture community. We will explore the gifts and challenges inherent in each worldview paradigm (described in the book Re-inventing Organizations by Frederic Laloux), what these bring to our groups, and how we can make a leap towards creating organizations that support individuals in unleashing their creative and inspired generosity on behalf of the whole. Melanie will provide ongoing support for these affinity teams to become self-managed, trust-based, aligned with a clear mission, and welcoming of the whole self.
Melanie Rios is an urban gardener, musician and intentional community consultant who lives in Portland, Oregon. One of her current passions is creating terra preta soil to sequester carbon, increase garden fertility, and establish a healthy sanitation system. She recently founded the Village Singers, a choir that leads work party volunteers in singing harmony while they create gardens and cob structures. Melanie offers workshops and coaching in sociocracy, social permaculture, conflict resolution, culture shift, composting, and other resiliency-promoting topics.

It is Brooklin’s vision to fully express her human potential on our planet; and in so doing, resonating with others to create profound awakening and healing as we enter/create/transform together into our new planetary consciousness. Join Brooklin twice a month in Seattle at Dance Embodied (Seattle’s only clothing optional ecstatic dance) which she created as her offering to you as a resource for your own personal growth as well as a safe, sacred space to find your ability to express yourself fully. Dance Embodied is a living event and community which transforms with us as we share ourselves verbally and in our dance. Dance as if you are already fully Embodied. (For more info, see

Through her dance and multi-cultural studies, She became fascinated with masks and mask-making and is excited to offer a workshop sharing her passion. For the last few years, she have been on a journey of deep reflection and life changing exploration. This year, Lynne is connecting with community, moving into a house with several friends, and continue to paint and dance.
